"The happy version of Hollow Knight" - anonymous.

The Adventures of Kilroy Rankins is a creative role-playing 2-dimensional game with platforming and fighting that spans through a story taking place on multiple continents. It is VERY different from the other metroidvania games because it is made by only me and is a very genuine expression of myself. One of the most special things about this game is that (unlike the majority of games) it goes all out with acting dumb and silly. The game's goofy nature appears most prominently in the way the game's characters speak. That being said, the game MUST be played with your speakers on and without music playing in the background. Players of this game should appreciate it as a unique and playful piece of art.

-----

Notes: Only the beginning parts are in a moderately polished state; the later sections are not very polished (including missing background images, no audio, etc), and there are some more hours of gameplay to be added in the future.

At the moment this game can only be played by English-speakers.

The game icon and the main menu will be improved.

Could you please add the option to remap the controls? (on my controller, the defaults you use make for a highly idiotic layout)

Okay, thanks for letting me know this, and I will get to work on that and then post another reply when it is in the game.

This looks fantastic. Can't wait to try it. Can you post a Linux 64bit build?

Okay, I'll do that right now. I hope you will enjoy!

How can I activate a save-spot?  the only instruction "press left joystick" doesn't work.

Sorry for the late reply. I am not at my place with my controller at the moment but try pressing the left joystick inwards or pressing 'e'.  E worked for me because I tried it a couple hours ago. Also, I have uploaded a new build recently because an older build didn't work properly. Finally, thanks for trying my game!

neither works on my PC (I even checked if I had to go through the extra hoop of clicking on "restart from save-point", but that just kicks me back into the main menu)

I just finished fixing and testing the game. Saving now works, and I apologize for the inconvenience. Apparently when I tested the game and said E worked for me I was testing the wrong version!
